Luminary Sculpture Event Fun!

I really had a great time watching the creative sculpting at my Arte é Vino luminary sculpture event! So many unique and cool ideas! Lots of fun was had by all.  🙂

I’m looking at the last weekend in August for my next event.  I’ll release more details soon!

Cover Illustration – Terre Haute Living Magazine

I completed this digital cover illustration for the cover of the December 2014 issue of Terre Haute Living Magazine.  The images was created from reference photos that I took on location at 7th and Wabash.  Home to the sculpture of Max Ehrmann.  My models, locals Shaun Hussey and his daughter Sophia, bundled up in warm clothes to help me capture my wintery reference photos while the weather was still warm.  Thanks to them both for their acting abilities and patience!

I really enjoyed creating this image with a nod to the extremely talented Norman Rockwell by incorporating some humor and elements of his iconic illustrations for the Saturday Evening Post.  The image was created on a Wacom Cintiq, however I used the same techniques that I would use when creating a traditional painting.  I’ve included some of my progress pictures showing my palette use and underlying sketches.
